Duke of Edinburgh

Kormilda College is a licensed operator of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Students over the age of 14 are invited to participate in the program to gain recognition for the valuable contributions each student currently makes within the College and the local community. The Award aims to enrich the lives of young people aged 14 – 25 in a number of activities over a set length of time. Students who complete the award can apply for credit points, which contribute towards their NTCET. There are a number of other benefits and opportunities that arise throughout this award as outlined below.

ARE YOU 14-17?  DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN? 

1.     Do Dukes with a group of friends 

2.     Do Dukes online  

3.     Start gaining NTCET credits when you’re 13 years 9 months with our program 

4.     Get recognized for the things you do at your sports/ youth club/music school/when you coach  

5.     Link with mentors to grow yourself personally and professionally 

6.     Acquire traits that employers want - for example, the ability to work in a team, showing initiative 

7.     Contact us and get hooked up with other opportunities  

8.     Hire our outdoor equipment 

ARE YOU 18-25? DID YOU KNOW? 

1.      The local team can design a program that suits your individual needs and help you get motivated in work/life balance and wellbeing  

2.      Universities value our program 

3.      It’s an internationally recognized program 

4.      If you complete a Gold Award you have opportunities to travel both interstate and internationally 

5.      Every 2 years we select 5 Gold participants / holders to travel with the Navy Patrol Boat to experience the Sandakan Death March (and we contribute to the flight cost) 

6.      When you are engaging in most of The Award activities you are covered by our Insurance 

7.      Hire our outdoor equipment 

8.     From time to time positions become available
