Kormilda International Baccalaureate graduate and Alumni Lucas Frichot was announced in March as the 2016 winner of the Northern Territory Government’s Earth Sciences/Mining/Petroleum scholarship.
The Scholarship was open for Territorians completing Year 12 in 2015 or earlier. It has been running for nine years offering recipients a head start in their studies and future career with many going on to have successful careers in the resource sector.
The Scholarship comprises an annual stipend of $12,000 for three years to assist with living costs, and provides mentoring and where possible vacation employment with either the NT resource sector or in areas within government such as the Geological Survey unit within the Department of Mines and Energy.
“Without this scholarship, I wouldn’t have been able to study a Petroleum Engineering Degree at Adelaide University and it provides me with a mentor and work opportunities in a relevant field during semester breaks,” said a delighted Lucas.
“It is an honour to represent the NT. At the completion of my degree, I hope to find work in the petroleum industry within the Territory!”
